How can I get OpenRGB to recognize my GIGABYTE Aorus K1 keyboard on Linux?

I'm using Linux Mint 22.2 with the Cinnamon desktop, and I have a GIGABYTE Aorus K1 keyboard. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear on the list of supported devices in OpenRGB, and the official RGB Fusion software is only available for Windows. I've tried running it using Wine and Bottles, but without success. Does anyone have suggestions for alternative software or tips on how to force OpenRGB to detect my keyboard?

Do you happen to have a Gigabyte motherboard? Sometimes, the compatibility with peripherals can depend on the motherboard as well.

I recently added support for my mouse in OpenRGB. If you're interested, I could help you add support for your keyboard! You'd just need to log data for me to work with. What do you think?

That would be amazing! I've been struggling with this for way too long, I really appreciate the help!

If your keyboard isn't supported by OpenRGB, you'll have to be patient for someone to add support or consider doing it yourself. If your keyboard saves settings internally, you might be able to run the needed software in a virtual machine using USB passthrough. I recommend using QEMU/KVM along with virt-manager for VMs on Linux.
