How Can I Get Sound to Work on My Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE with Linux?

I have two Chromebooks: a lower-end model (the CB315-3H) and the newer Acer Chromebook Plus 516 GE. While dual booting different Linux distros, the sound works fine on the lower-end Chromebook. However, on the Chromebook Plus, everything functions smoothly except for the sound—it says "No input or output devices detected." I've already reinstalled everything, updated drivers, and even installed PulseAudio. I've tried several distributions including Mint Cinnamon, Mint Mate, Kubuntu, and Fedora KDE, but I just can't get the sound to work. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

You might want to check out this GitHub issue, it discusses Chromebook audio problems on Linux: https://github.com/WeirdTreeThing/chromebook-linux-audio/issues/30. If you're still not having luck, try switching to a different audio server, like WirePlumber, but it seems you've attempted that already.

Have you tried searching for your specific audio device model along with 'Linux'? Sometimes, you can find specific configurations or workarounds for audio issues that might not be covered in general guides.
