I'm helping a friend transition from Windows, and she's not a fan of the way LibreOffice's interface looks and feels. Are there any settings, add-ons, or themes that can enhance its appearance? I've heard OnlyOffice is a good alternative, but I want to know if there are any drawbacks to switching to it.

There are definitely themes you can install for LibreOffice to give it a nicer look. You can find these in the settings. Also, switching to a tabbed layout can make the interface look a lot cleaner and more modern.
You might want to check out the latest version of LibreOffice, which is around 24.x. It has some improved aesthetics compared to older ones. If you're not happy with it, OnlyOffice might be worth looking into, as it appears to have a more modern look on their GitHub. Plus, being open source, it’s generally reliable!
If you're leaning towards OnlyOffice, I switched from LibreOffice to it and absolutely love the user interface. I haven't encountered any hidden issues, so it might be a solid option for your friend.
For those using LibreOffice, you can make it look better by exploring layout options in the settings. There’s a tabbed interface that's much sleeker than the default layout.
