How can I hide the text cursor while writing?

I'm a writer and the blinking text cursor really distracts me when I'm trying to focus on my work. I'm specifically talking about the vertical blinking text cursor, not the mouse cursor. I'm on Windows 10 and primarily use Final Draft for screenwriting, but I also use Microsoft Word sometimes. Is there any way to make this cursor invisible? It's such a nuisance because I tend to read and reread what I've written, and that blinking thing always grabs my attention. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

While you can't make the cursor completely invisible, you can adjust its settings. Here's how:

1. Click the Start button or press the Windows key.
2. Type "blink rate" in the search bar.
3. Select "Change cursor blink rate".
4. Move the "Cursor blink rate" slider all the way to the left to make it static instead of blinking.

This should make it less distracting!

This is a good workaround! I’d still like to make it disappear entirely, but at least it’s an improvement.

You might also want to check if you can just change the blink speed. Setting it to a longer duration could make it look more like a static line, which is less distracting.

Hopefully that helps!

Thanks! I’d still prefer it gone completely, but this sounds like a decent alternative.
