I recently bought a used laptop with a decent CPU (6900HX), and it handles everything well. However, I want to make sure it lasts longer, and I've noticed that the fan gets really loud, especially when playing older games. I'd love to find a way to reduce the CPU performance a bit to help lower the fan noise. Since it's an AMD laptop, I know there are options. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your laptop might need a good cleaning or the fan could be on its last legs. The fan really runs hard while gaming, but if normal tasks stay cool, that's a good sign. You might want to check if it's just dust build-up.
Before tweaking settings, have you thought about cleaning out your laptop? Dust buildup can cause overheating and affect performance. If the cooling system isn't working well, that might be the first step! After that, you can adjust CPU settings.
You can go to Power Plan Settings and adjust the Advanced Power Settings. There, you can set the processor power management to limit the maximum processor state to something less than 100%. This should help with fan noise, but don't expect it to extend the laptop's lifespan significantly.
Yeah, I just want to keep my CPU from overheating while gaming too. It’s all about balancing performance without frying the hardware!
I get that! If it only revs up during games, then it's probably fine for regular tasks. Just keep an eye on the temperatures while gaming.
