How Can I Prevent USB Devices from Waking My PC?

Hey everyone! I've got a bit of a frustrating issue with my computer. It keeps turning back on when I either click my mouse or hit a key on my keyboard. This isn't a huge problem except for when I have my wireless game controller plugged in, as it turns the PC back on right after I put it into hibernation. I want to know if there's a way to stop USB devices from waking my PC. I've already tried disabling the 'PCIE Devices Power On' setting on my ASRock motherboard, but it didn't help at all. I just want the hibernation mode to actually power down the computer instead of acting like it's in sleep mode. Any ideas?

It sounds like you've already made some good moves by adjusting your BIOS settings! Here's a potential fix that might help you stop USB devices from waking your PC:

1. **Device Manager Settings:** You can disable specific devices from waking your PC:
- Right-click the Start button and open "Device Manager."
- Expand sections like "Keyboards," "Mice and other pointing devices," and "Human Interface Devices" to find your game controller setup.
- For each relevant device, right-click, select "Properties," go to the "Power Management" tab, and make sure to uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer." Do this for your keyboard and mouse too.

2. **Check BIOS Again:** Boot into your BIOS/UEFI settings and search for anything about "USB Wake Support" or similar. If you find it, make sure those are disabled.

Hopefully, one of these methods will help you stop your PC from waking up unexpectedly!

I've tried all of those settings, and they don't work for me either when my computer is in standby. I put my laptop in a bag without turning off Bluetooth, and the mouse triggers it too. This new 'Modern Standby' is a real hassle! I just want my PC to stay off like it used to.

Have you tried using USBDeview? It helps you see what devices are connected and their properties, maybe you can pinpoint what's causing the wake-ups.

Honestly, if this is driving you nuts, why not just skip hibernation altogether? Just turn the PC off completely. I know it takes a few extra minutes to get everything back up, but sometimes it's just easier to do that instead of dealing with these wake-up issues.

But then I have to spend time every boot setting it all back up! It's really annoying. Besides, my other computers don’t wake from hibernation with USB devices.
