I'm trying to figure out the best way to remove thermal paste around my CPU. I recently replaced the thermal paste hoping to reduce overheating, but it hasn't worked as expected. I'm starting to think there may be too much paste around the CPU. What are the best methods to clean it up?

To clean up the thermal paste, you can use isopropyl alcohol along with a fine brush or a microfiber cloth. However, I'm not sure that excess paste is really causing your overheating issues. It's possible that the paste wasn't applied correctly, or your heatsink might not be installed properly or isn't sufficient for your CPU's cooling needs.

Exactly, just make sure that the fan is positioned correctly. It's surprisingly easy to mess that up.
