I accidentally knocked over my dad's 18TB external hard drive, and now it makes a repeated clicking noise. I feel terrible about it and want to recover the files before I get him a new drive. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can fix this or recover the data?

If you have backups, that's your best option. But if not, consider sending it to a professional recovery service—just be aware that it can be pretty pricey. The clicking noise usually indicates physical damage, which could make recovery difficult.
Wow, that’s such a huge drive! If it’s not dead yet, try to connect it and see if you can transfer your files immediately. If the computer recognizes the drive but won’t let you access it, you might still need to send it to a recovery service, unfortunately.
The fact that it shows up but you can't access files sounds really bad.
That sounds like a nightmare!
