Hey everyone! I'm 14 and used to love coding just for the fun of it. I built quirky projects and clones of websites just to play around. However, as I got more serious about making something real like SaaS apps and aiming for financial success, coding has become a chore. Now, every idea I have gets shot down in my head because I start questioning its potential success or monetary value. I feel stuck even though I've got experience building various apps and solving problems. Schoolwork is taking up my time too, and when coding feels stressful, I end up opting for video games instead. I'm torn between taking a break, returning to no-pressure projects, or diving into serious coding efforts. Plus, I'm curious if using AI tools for repetitive coding tasks would help or hinder my learning at this stage. Have you experienced this loss of joy in coding, and how did you cope? Any advice or stories would be greatly appreciated!

Just focus on what you love! At 14, there's no pressure to monetize your coding. Try exploring fun alternatives like joining a robotics team or even just playing outside. Take some time to explore things that excite you rather than worrying about making a profit.
Yeah, just have fun coding! You're still young and have so much time ahead.
Don't let the pressure of profitability ruin your creativity. Remember, the experience and skills you gain from any project are often more valuable than the money you could make from it. Try to reconnect with the joy of creating without the business mindset.
That makes a lot of sense! I’ll try to go back to my earlier projects that were just for fun.
When I faced burnout from web development, learning something entirely different reignited my passion. How about trying mobile app development, game creation with Unity, or even experimenting with Arduino projects? Combining different skills can lead to unique projects and might refresh your love for coding.
I’ve tried mobile development but it wasn't my thing. I think game development could be really fun!
Definitely try it! Creating games offers a lot of room for creativity.
The pressure to achieve can be overwhelming, especially in a capitalist society. It's normal to feel this way but it's not always healthy. Take a step back and enjoy the journey of learning. Maybe dive into other topics outside programming or read different kinds of books to give your mind a break from tech.
I’ve been meaning to read more. Thanks for the tip! Any book recommendations?
David Graeber's 'Bullshit Jobs' is a good read. It might give you some perspective.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely explore new activities. I've been kinda stuck in a rut.
