How Can I Remove Fedora from My RAID Drives While Keeping My Files?

I've got an old PC set up with three 4TB drives in RAID 5, but I accidentally installed Fedora Server on these drives instead of the two SSDs meant for the operating system. Now I want to remove Fedora while keeping all my files intact. My storage is currently around 2-3TB used, so I can't just wipe everything clean. This setup is crucial for my media streaming and backups, and I'm at a loss since I didn't realize this mistake until now. Any advice on how to handle this?

It sounds like you've made a common mistake! Simply deleting the Fedora installation won't work since it's on your RAID drives. Instead, consider using a partition manager to move the OS to the SSDs, ensuring to keep your data intact on the RAID setup. Just be careful to select the right drives when performing these operations!

Good point! Partition managers can help, but it might be tricky if you're not familiar with them. Watch some tutorial videos if you're unsure!

It seems like you want to migrate your OS to the SSDs while keeping your data on the RAID drives. You need to back up your important files first, just in case something goes wrong. After that, you can install Fedora on the SSDs. Once it's installed, you can adjust your BIOS settings to boot from the SSDs instead of the RAID drives. Make sure to format the HDDs with the old OS afterward so you can use them for additional storage.

That sounds like a solid plan! Just remember to double-check that your data is backed up before you start this process. Better to be safe!
