How can I remove phone-based two-factor authentication for my Mac?

I'm really tired of needing to get permission from my phone just to access things on my Mac. I believe my Mac is more secure than my phone, so I think it shouldn't have to rely on it for additional safety. This is especially frustrating when I try to log into iCloud. Is there any way to avoid this phone verification?

Honestly, I don't remember the last time I had to use my phone for two-factor authentication on my MacBook Air. I think I might have used it the first time I logged into my iCloud account after buying it to confirm it was really me, but since then, I don't recall needing my phone. Maybe it only prompts you for verification if you've forgotten your password or something?

What exactly are you trying to access that keeps needing your phone? If you're wearing an Apple Watch, it can handle a lot of those two-factor authentications automatically, but I understand if you don't want to use your watch. Are you talking about security codes for signing into accounts? Those are typically found in the passwords app on your Mac, too.

Those security checks are really there to protect you! With all the cyber threats out there, they serve as your safety net against online risks. It's no longer safe to assume hackers won't target you, so having that extra layer of protection is crucial.
