How can I reset my Apple ID password after a computer mishap?

I accidentally spilled water near my Mac keyboard and managed to get it working again after some drying time. However, when I restarted, I was logged out of my Apple account and realized I forgot my Apple ID password. I tried to write it down, but it seems I recorded the wrong one. I have my email and phone number linked to my account, but no trusted devices. I've been in a waiting period for over 6 days to reset my password without any luck. I'm wondering if I'll actually be able to reset my password, and if anyone else has faced a similar situation.

I can relate! Using Touch ID made me a bit lazy about remembering passwords too. But just so you know, even if you're prompted for your password, that’s just a security measure. It's good that you can log into your Mac; the main hurdle is dealing with the Apple ID. Have you considered visiting an Apple Store or using their chat support? Sometimes talking to a person can help clarify things.

When you go to iforgot.apple.com, using your Apple account email should give you a timeline for when you can reset your password. Since you mentioned you're currently on a 6-day wait, it seems they’re giving you a chance for security reasons. Just stay patient – it’ll be worth it to regain access. Experience tells me that they usually stick to those timelines.

It sounds like you're in quite a bind! Just to clarify, you forgot your Apple ID password, not your Mac login password, right? Apple’s security measures do involve long waits sometimes to ensure account safety, so it makes sense you're stuck in a waiting period. You should definitely check the official Apple support links if you haven't already - they can provide step-by-step assistance. Hang in there!
