How Can I Set Up a Shared Mailbox for Continuous Auto Replies?

I'm a bit puzzled here. We have a shared mailbox that used to automatically reply to every incoming email, but now it's only sending an auto reply to the first email each sender sends. For example, if I send a test email to this mailbox for the first time, I get the auto reply. However, if I send another test email, it doesn't respond again. Has anyone else experienced this issue or know how to ensure that it replies to every message?

What you're encountering is actually a standard safety feature to avoid mail loops. When your shared mailbox replies too many times, it can cause issues and spamming back and forth between mail servers. That's why the auto reply only activates for the first email.

Exactly! You might want to look into creating a mailbox rule that sends a specific server-side reply for every email, instead of just relying on the out-of-office setting.

This is how Microsoft mailboxes are designed to work, so it's not really a glitch. But if you want it to reply to every email, consider setting up a transport rule instead. It could give you the continuous response you're looking for.
