I'm currently living in Canada and I'm really frustrated with the constant recommendations for Indian content on both YouTube and Prime Video. I've tried actively indicating that I'm not interested, but the algorithms seem to be focused on my geographical location rather than my actual viewing habits. For context, I've only checked out some Indian media before through torrents, which didn't impact these platforms, and honestly, it's just not my style—I prefer Scandinavian or Eastern European gritty content.
Here's what I've tried so far:
**YouTube:**
- I skip Indian shorts every time they pop up.
- I've clicked "Not interested" repeatedly on videos that aren't even in English.
- Autoplay leads to Indian content within just a few videos.
- I even created a new Google account, but Indian recommendations still appeared eventually.
- The recommendations keep coming despite no interaction with the content.
**Prime Video:**
- I've never watched an Indian movie or show, yet they still show up prominently in my suggestions.
- Autoplay on Prime Video also defaults to Indian titles.
Is there any way to disable location-based recommendations, reset the algorithm, or set stricter content preferences? The "Not interested" button hasn't changed anything, and it's getting quite annoying.

If you're on your home internet, you could reach out to your ISP and request they refresh your IP address. That might help with location targeting. But remember, this won't affect your phone if you're using mobile data. And if all else fails, consider a VPN as a last resort.
Are you using shared Wi-Fi at home or work? And is this Google account linked to work projects? If so, try creating a completely fresh Google account just for streaming and see if that changes the recommendations.
Maybe try clearing your watch history? Sometimes that resets the recommendations a bit.
It's kind of funny that they might be using shifting demographics in Canada to recommend content—that doesn’t feel right if it's not your jam!
You might want to give a VPN a shot to trick Google into thinking you're in a different region. That sometimes helps change the content recommendations. Also, check out YouTube's settings on managing ad types for a potential fix. Here's a link to the support page with more details.
