I've got my Messages synced across all my devices, but I'm looking for a way to prevent my MacBook from keeping all the photos and videos. I still want to have all that media on my phone since it's what my friends and I share, but I really don't want it taking up space on my laptop. I mostly use my laptop for texting because it's just more efficient. Can anyone help me out here? I've been searching through the settings but can't find how to stop Messages from saving media locally.

To manage this, try looking into the "Optimize Mac Storage" setting. Unfortunately, there’s no dedicated setting just for Messages, but this option could help in freeing up your storage overall. If you find that in settings, it should help with the media problem.
This is the most useful tip I've seen! I checked my settings under General and Storage but didn’t see "Optimize Mac Storage". I did see something about moving files to iCloud, though. Is that a good idea to save space?
