How can I tell if my computer has a virus?

I've been having this weird issue with my Windows 11 computer. Every time I boot it up, Microsoft Edge opens automatically, even though I've turned off the auto boot feature. If I try to close it using Task Manager, it just pops right back up. Plus, there's this annoying location popup saying "Programs using location: Microsoft Edge". I also noticed a program listed in the Control Panel called "Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection," but the only things I've installed are Steam, Brave browser, and Discord. I haven't even browsed any websites on Edge except for downloading another browser. Could this mean I have a virus or malware?

It sounds like something might be off with your setup. First, check your startup programs in Task Manager again. Even if you disabled Edge, it’s worth double-checking. Sometimes, there are hidden settings that allow programs to start anyway. Also, consider running a malware scan just to be safe. You can use Windows Defender or a reliable third-party antivirus tool. It might help you find any suspicious software.

I had a similar issue once, and it turned out to be adware. Definitely run a malware scanner!
