I have a 240Hz monitor and I've been able to select 240Hz in my PC settings, but I'm unsure if it's really running at that refresh rate. I have a GTX 1080 Ti graphics card and I'm using an older HDMI cable, but I'm not sure if it's HDMI 1.0 or 2.0. The screen looks really smooth, but I can't tell if it's actually 144Hz or 240Hz. How can I confirm it?

You can also use the Nvidia Control Panel to set and check your refresh rate properly. Just go to Display > Change Resolution and make sure you're using Nvidia color settings.
Yeah, if you can apply the 240Hz setting without it changing back, then it's working! You can also gauge it by how smooth everything looks on screen.
If it's showing 240Hz and nothing is displaying weird, then it's likely running at that rate! If the bandwidth was an issue, it would either show an error or switch to a lower mode which wouldn't look right. Just make sure that VRR isn't active when you're checking.
If you can select 240Hz and it stays on that setting, it usually means your cable can handle it. If it keeps reverting to a lower rate, that's a sign that your cable might be limiting you.
As long as you set it in your OS and saved the settings, it should indeed be running at 240Hz.
