How Can I Tell If My Phone Is Being Hacked?

I've been feeling like my phone's been hacked multiple times over the past few years, and I'm at a loss about how to deal with it. I've factory reset my device a couple of times, but strange things keep happening. For example, my camera sometimes activates on its own and captures photos without me doing anything. I've also received weird messages on Viber from a fake number that I've already blocked. My data usage is through the roof – I noticed a 6GB spike attributed to removed apps, even though I haven't deleted anything. My Gmail keeps getting hacked even though I use two-factor authentication and change my password often. Additionally, I've seen odd search results on TikTok for things I never searched for, and I found a strange window open in Mozilla that I didn't access myself.

I suspect that my WiFi or accounts are being exploited to gain access to my phone. I've changed my WiFi password several times, disabled UPnP and WPS, and checked for unknown devices connected to my network. I even found a suspicious app on my tablet, which only uses WiFi. I've started using a VPN on both my devices, but I'm not sure that's enough. Can someone gain access to my phone through my Google account? Any advice on how to figure out what's going on would be greatly appreciated. I'm on edge wondering if someone is watching me.

What type of phone do you have? It's crucial to know since different brands have varying security protocols. Also, have you logged out of all devices from your Google account after changing your password? Sometimes these breaches can come from authorized devices if you're not careful.

I have a Samsung Galaxy A15. I've logged out of all devices, but it’s tough to keep track.

It sounds like you might be dealing with malware or some sort of remote access. Since you're technically savvy, you could try capturing network packets from your phone with a tool like Wireshark to see if anything suspicious is going on. Also, installing Malwarebytes and scanning your phone can help catch any malicious software. Just be sure to run regular scans and keep your device updated!

Good point! Just remember that analyzing packet data can get pretty technical, so make sure you're comfortable with the process.

I feel for you! If you've had physical access to your device by someone you suspect, that raises a red flag. Is there anyone who you think could be behind this? Also, consider doing a full security check on your accounts and devices to see if there’s any unauthorized access. That might give you some peace of mind.
