How Can I Tell if My RAM is Faulty After a PC Upgrade?

I recently upgraded my PC and it's generally running well, but I've been facing a concerning issue. While playing Fortnite, my computer crashes suddenly, the screens turn black, but the system itself remains powered on. I've already reinstalled my graphics drivers, and I ran stress tests for both the CPU and GPU with no issues. Currently, I'm running Memtest86, and it has already detected one error in Test 7. I'm not certain if this indicates that my RAM is defective. I plan to re-run the test with EXPO disabled and one stick of RAM at a time since I've read this is a good practice. Can anyone confirm if this is the right way to proceed or suggest any other troubleshooting steps before I reach out to the RAM manufacturer?

I think you're approaching it correctly! An error in Test 7 typically means there's something up with the RAM. Disabling EXPO and testing each stick individually can often reveal faulty modules. Also, if possible, try reseating your RAM; sometimes just adjusting the sticks can improve performance. If the problems continue, contacting the manufacturer might be necessary.

When you mention the screen turning black, does it lose signal and the fans ramp up aggressively? That’s often a sign of hardware issues like RAM problems, so you might be on the right track. Running Memtest86 again with one stick at a time is definitely a good call. It’ll help you pinpoint if one stick is causing the issue. Make sure to double-check your power connections too, just to rule everything out.
