How Can I Test My New GPU for Issues When My CPU is a Bottleneck?

Hey everyone! I'm building my first gaming PC and recently snagged an MSI 5070 Ti Shadow 3X OC during a sale, which is set to arrive around July 7th. I'm a bit worried about the possibility of it arriving defective since I won't be able to test or return it within the 14-day refund window until I can get the rest of my components, which might take a while. I was thinking of installing the new GPU in my old PC that has an i5-7600 CPU. I know that the CPU will bottleneck the performance a lot, but will I still be able to check if the GPU is functioning correctly? Any tips on how to do this?

You can definitely test your new GPU in your old system! It won’t perform to its full potential due to the CPU bottleneck, but you’ll be able to see if it works. Just run some benchmarks like 3DMark that primarily stress the GPU. Also, good news—defective GPUs are usually covered under warranty!

Really? So I might still be able to return it even if I can't test it properly right away?
