I'm looking for a more efficient way to transfer JPG/JPEG files between two computers in my office. Currently, I'm using a USB flash drive, but it's wearing out and often doesn't connect properly. Due to security restrictions, we can't use the internet or any cloud-based services. Some alternatives I've considered, like a shared external hard drive or a USB transfer cable, have their own drawbacks, especially since I'm not sure if installations would be allowed. A direct Ethernet connection isn't feasible either since both PCs are already tied to the network, and IT has prohibited sharing files this way. Essentially, we need a way to move images for access cards from one PC, which processes email requests, to another, which manages the card creation software. Given the challenges with our IT department, which complicates any changes, I'm hoping to find a straightforward solution that doesn't require USB drives or internet access.

If you're both connected to the same network, it should be possible to copy files directly between the two PCs. Just reach out to IT and let them know what you're trying to accomplish; they should have a way to assist you.
I think you should explain to IT that you need PC-to-PC sharing. They can probably set up a shared folder over the network if you press the issue. It's surprising that USB ports are still enabled, given the security risks!
Have you considered using something like LocalSend? It's a tool that can let you transfer files over your local network without needing any internet access. It might fit well with your situation.
Your best bet is probably to get a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device. That way, both computers can access a common repository without being dependent on each other, which helps with the file transfers.
You should definitely ask your IT department if they can create a local share for you on one of the computers. They have the control to set up network file sharing securely, and it might just be the easiest way to transfer files without the hassle of USB drives.
