How Can I Transfer Photos from Old CDs to Modern Storage?

Hey everyone! My dad passed down a bunch of old CDs filled with photos and videos from around 2000-2006. They are CD-Rs and CD-RWs, but I can only view them on an ancient portable DVD player—my laptop and PS5 can't read them at all. I was thinking about just putting the disc into my laptop to move the files to a USB drive or SD card, but I'm not sure if that's going to work. Any advice on the best way to get these files transferred to a modern storage device? Thanks!

Yeah, some external drives are notorious for not reading CD-Rs and CD-RWs well. If that’s causing issues, setting up an old desktop or laptop that has a built-in drive might do the trick. Good luck!

You should be able to see something on the disc if the DVD player can play it. Check if you can actually see the files when you insert the CD into your external drive. If not, it might be an issue with the drive or the discs themselves.
