Hey everyone, I'm seeking advice on transitioning my career back to web development. In the past, I built websites and did some freelance work, but I've spent years now as a tech support engineer focused on infrastructure, networking, and virtualization. I'm no longer enjoying this path and want to reconnect with my web development roots. My skills feel outdated, and I realize I need to learn languages like JavaScript or Python to be competitive. I've seen some job listings that interest me, but they require GitHub portfolios, and mine is pretty sparse. I believe I can do the job, but I'm worried that my lack of advanced coding skills might disqualify me. Any tips on learning resources, project ideas to help me grow and build my GitHub, or general advice to make this career shift?

Not sure if you're leaning towards front-end or back-end, but check out Frontend Mentor. It's a great site where you can work on projects and submit your work to build your GitHub portfolio.
Honestly, just dive in and build something with the technologies you're interested in. It’s better than just browsing for info—this way, you’ll gain hands-on experience while creating something worthwhile for your resume. Confidence grows as you build!
So, you mean just build anything? What if I don’t know where to start?
