I have this tablet lying around and I'm thinking about using it just to show my Spotify music playback, similar to a Spotify car thing. What are the best ways to achieve this setup?

You can simply open Spotify on both your tablet and your PC. Once that's done, just press the computer icon next to the song that's playing and select your PC as the output. Super easy and should work seamlessly!

That's cool, but does that mean I need to keep my PC running all the time?

I also was in a similar boat and ended up using my tablet for music with a Bluetooth speaker. It works like a mini boombox! You might love that setup too!

That sounds fun! What tablet do you use for that?

Another option is to check out apps that let you use your tablet as a secondary display, like Spacedesk. It's been working great for me when I want to display media!

For a straightforward solution, just open Spotify on your tablet and keep it plugged in. If you ever close your devices, you might need to reconnect, but it’s pretty handy that way!
