I recently got an old iPhone from a friend, but it's locked to her sister's Apple ID and I don't have the password. When I restart the phone, it keeps showing that it's locked. Is there any way to exit recovery mode and get the phone working again, or a method to remove the Apple ID without knowing the password? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Unfortunately, you can’t bypass the Apple ID lock without the password. The only ways to unlock it are to enter the Apple account password or provide Apple with a copy of the original purchase receipt. Those are the only options available.
Yeah, there’s really no way around that. If she can remember the email tied to that account, it might help. Otherwise, the phone is pretty much unusable for now.
