How can I upgrade my PC for better 1440p performance on a budget?

I'm looking to enhance my PC's capability for 1440p gaming without breaking the bank, ideally keeping it under $450. Here are my current specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 8600G
- GPU: RTX 4060 8GB
- Motherboard: ROG Strix X670E-A
- RAM: Corsair 32GB 5200MHz DDR5
- PSU: Corsair 850 Watts

If anyone has suggestions for upgrades or components that could help improve my situation, I'm all ears! Also, I might be able to stretch my budget to $600 if that opens up better options.

If you're serious about 1440p in the long run, I'd suggest saving for a 9070XT or 5070 Ti. It'll keep you set for a while, so you won't need upgrades every few years!

Good point! Just worried my CPU might not keep up.

You could just save up for a while. Maybe put that $450 into a savings account and add a bit more every paycheck. Take a year, and when you're ready with more funds, come back and see if the prices have changed!

I appreciate that advice! I might be able to stretch to $600, though.

What exactly are you aiming for in terms of performance? If you're okay with adjusting settings to get 60fps, maybe a budget GPU like the RX 9060 XT for around $350 would work for you. Or if you’re willing to spend a bit more, consider the 5070 or 9070 for a longer-term upgrade!

Definitely think about swapping your CPU for a more powerful model like the 7800X3D if you can. Selling your 8600G could help fund a better GPU like a 12-16GB RTX series card. That might give you a much bigger boost in performance!

You might want to consider grabbing a GPU like the RTX 5070, which is starting to show up at reasonable prices lately. The RX 9060 XT is another solid option. Just be careful with compatibility to ensure your CPU doesn't bottleneck the performance too much.

Yeah, I’m a bit worried about my CPU holding me back. Should I think about upgrading it too?
