Hey folks, I just settled into my student dorm, and I've been dealing with some subpar WiFi that keeps dropping out. I'd really like to connect my PC via a LAN cable, but unfortunately, I don't have access to the router. I considered getting a repeater, but I need to press the WPS button on the router, which I can't do since I don't have physical access. I'm feeling a bit lost on how to make this work—any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Using a repeater won’t really help since it still connects wirelessly to the router, meaning you won’t see much improvement even if your PC is wired. If your WiFi card is decent, it may be better to stick with that for now.
Sadly, WiFi might be your only option unless you discover a hidden NIC jack on the wall. Have you checked around your room? Sometimes there are outlets for wired connections you might overlook.
Are you talking about outlets that look like this?
If you want to improve the WiFi experience, consider getting a better WiFi adapter for your PC that has external antennas. You can find USB adapters or ones for desktops that allow you to adjust their position for better signal reception. Extenders might not be very effective depending on the network security settings, but a good adapter can make a big difference!
I have something similar next to my desk, and it really helps!

Yeah, I think OP is figuring that out as they go... lol.
