How can I use my Roku TV as a wireless display when my computer is too far away?

I'm trying to use my Roku TV as a wireless display for gaming, but it seems like my computer can't detect it because they're too far apart. Both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, and I don't want to run a long HDMI cable. When I connected the wireless display receiver to my computer, it worked fine, but it doesn't show up when I plug it into the TV located in another room. Is this a distance issue? Just to add, I've got a Roku TV and I'm running Windows 11. I've also noticed that casting doesn't work over Ethernet, even though I have Ethernet cables. Any ideas?

If you're worried about distance, try moving the computer closer to the TV to see if it connects. That way, you can rule out the distance as an issue before you try more complicated fixes.

You might want to try using an HDMI to Ethernet adapter, as it worked for me in a similar setup. Just keep in mind that most wireless HDMI options only support 1080p and could have latency issues, especially if your router isn't up to date—make sure you have at least Wi-Fi 6. If your wireless HDMI is older, it might not perform well for gaming.

What model adapter did you use?

So that just means I'd have to run a different kind of long cable?

Make sure to check the specifics on your setup! Provide details like the make and model of your TV, wireless display receiver, Roku model, and router model. Also, double-check if both devices are truly on the same Wi-Fi; sometimes networks have overlapping IDs but use different frequencies which can cause connectivity issues. It’s easy to overlook!
