How can I use unallocated space to extend my root partition?

I have an issue where my root folder is completely full, and I've got this unallocated space of 96 GiB that I'd like to merge with it. I tried using EaseUS on Windows, but it can't access my root folder. I'm at a loss on what to do next!

Before diving into partitioning, think about whether your root is full due to media files or documents. You could partition that 96 GiB, mount it, and create a symbolic link to it within your home directory, or even in /mnt. It can help alleviate some pressure from your root! Just make sure to back everything up appropriately first.

No stress, dude! Just grab a GParted ISO, burn it to a USB drive, and boot from it. You’ll have full control over your partitions then. Just proceed with caution, or you might lose your data!

It sounds like you want to expand your root partition by moving the unallocated space next to it. Filesystems can only be expanded 'to the right,' meaning you'll have to clear some space or move other partitions around. The catch is that you can't move a mounted partition, so you'll need to boot from a live USB. Just remember, moving partitions can take a while and there's a risk of data loss, so back everything up first!
