How can I use xrdp for a persistent desktop session on Linux?

I'm planning to migrate one of our servers to Linux, but I need a reliable RDP connection to the same desktop session that appears when I connect a monitor to the server. Just to clarify, SSH isn't an option here since I have a GUI application that needs to run continuously. While I have x11vnc set up, it's too slow, and my boss specifically wants everything handled through RDP.

You might want to check out alternatives like Rustdesk, NoMachine, or X2go. They can provide what you're looking for.
