My wife has a ton of playlists for her fitness class that she usually edits on her iPhone. In the past, she was able to make changes on her phone and see those updates reflected on her MacBook. However, lately, it seems that the MacBook is overwriting her phone's changes instead of syncing with it. I thought the MacBook version was the main one, and I didn't think syncing from the phone to the Mac was possible at all. Is there any reliable way for her to sync her playlist edits from her iPhone to the MacBook? Just to clarify, she receives MP3s from her company and doesn't have an Apple Music subscription.

It sounds like a frustrating issue! If your wife could use Apple Music or iTunes Match, she could set up Sync Library to keep her playlists synchronized effortlessly across her devices. This way, she wouldn't run into the overwriting problem. But since she maintains her playlists manually and doesn't have a subscription, that won’t work for her.
I think she's got the syncing concept a little mixed up. Typically, you can sync music from your MacBook to your iPhone, but not the other way around. You might want to try putting the corporate MP3s onto the Mac, importing them into the Music app, and then syncing that to her iPhone. Plus, she can choose to sync only selected tracks instead of the entire library.
