I've been using my dad's Apple ID since I got my first phone, but now that I'm older, I want my own Apple ID for privacy. However, it seems like our accounts are still linked. For instance, my messages sometimes go to both our phones, and he can randomly see my photos. Even though I'm logged into my own Apple ID, I still get prompted for his password when trying to update apps. I really need help figuring out how to detach our accounts completely and stop this overlap!

You should log into your new Apple ID in the Messages and FaceTime apps to ensure it's activated there. This can help prevent your messages from being sent to both phones.
One option to fix this is to make sure you're using a different phone number. If you and your dad are on the same number, that might cause ongoing issues. So, consider getting a new number if possible.
How do I go about doing that?
