I'm really struggling with an Apple ID issue for my 7-year-old son. I created an Apple ID for him to use FaceTime and play Roblox, but it seems it's still somehow linked to my personal Apple ID. He has his own email for his account, which is good, but now people I'm in contact with are getting prompts to change my name to his. Moreover, my AirPods keep connecting to his iPad, which also affects my phone. I see his FaceTime calls in my logs, but mine don't ring when someone calls me. I'm not sure what went wrong and would love some guidance on how to fix this, especially since his name is popping up among my professional contacts!

You really should set him up with his own Apple ID. They shouldn't be shared at all. Each person needs their own ID for things to work correctly. Plus, consider using Family Sharing so you can keep track of his account without it interfering with yours.
Check if the iPad is actually using his Apple ID or yours. Go to Settings and look at the account signed in at the top. If your iCloud is still logged in on his iPad, that could explain the issues.
No, it's definitely set up with his account! Friends are FaceTiming him using his email, not mine.
The best way to manage all of this while retaining control over his usage is to set up Family Sharing from your device. Create a child's account for him, which allows you to set screen time limits and monitor app usage effectively. The setup can be tricky, but it’s super useful.
I thought I did that, but I might have messed up the login on his iPad. I think it's fixed now.
I did create his own email and ID, but since he's just a kid, I want to monitor him!
