I'm dealing with a frustrating issue where a large video file (about 55 GB) is stuck on 'Preparing' as I try to move it to my Mac. I've attempted several methods like AirDropping, moving the file to my files to use Image Capture (but it doesn't even show up there), and I've also tried changing the video format settings to see if that helps. Unfortunately, nothing seems to work, and that 'Preparing' message just lingers. I've considered Apple Support's suggestion to buy extra iCloud storage to download the video, but I'm really not happy with the Apple ecosystem and preferred my old Windows and Android setup. Any advice on what I can do?

Have you checked if the file is trying to offload to iCloud? A 55 GB file can be too big for Photos, which can get tricky. Sometimes it helps to ensure that iCloud syncing is completely off if you're using the free plan with only 5 GB. That could be playing a part in the hang-up.

Yeah, I have iCloud sync turned off, and even when it was on, the space was just too limited for that file. So I don't think that's the issue here.
