I'm a bit nervous about updating my BIOS for the first time since I recently learned about the voltage issues with 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs. I have an i5 13400f on a PRIME B760M-A WIFI D5 motherboard, and I want to make sure everything goes smoothly. I bought my PC in August 2023, so my current BIOS version is outdated and doesn't have the latest Intel microcode. I'd love some step-by-step guidance to avoid any mistakes during the update!

To update your BIOS, start by visiting your motherboard's official support website. They usually have detailed instructions on how to do it. If you have a UPS, it's a good idea to use it during the process, but if not, just ensure your electricity is stable to avoid any disruptions.
You should definitely have a USB drive that’s at least 2GB. After formatting it to FAT32, go to your motherboard's support page and download the new BIOS. Keep your USB plugged into your PC, restart it, and access the BIOS. Use the ASUS EZ Flash 3 Utility to find your USB and select the BIOS file. Just be extra cautious not to turn off your PC until the update is completely finished. If all goes well, it’ll reboot automatically when done!
Here’s a quick guide to updating your BIOS:
1. Get a USB flash drive (at least 2GB is good).
2. Format the USB to FAT32 (just right-click and format).
3. Go to the Asus website, download your motherboard's latest BIOS version, and look for the .cap file.
4. Copy that .cap file onto the formatted USB.
5. Restart your PC and enter BIOS (usually by spamming Del or F1).
6. In BIOS, head to Advanced > Tool > Asus EZ Flash.
7. Select the .cap file and start the update. Just be patient; your PC might restart a few times during this!
Quick question, will formatting my USB stick erase the Windows 11 installation that’s on it? Or can I just change it to FAT32 without losing anything?
