How Do Providers Work with DeepSeek on OpenRouter?

Hey everyone! I'm a bit confused about using DeepSeek through OpenRouter. I noticed there are several settings related to providers, and I'm not quite sure what I should be selecting. I have DeepSeek set as my default model, but do I need to pick 'DeepSeek' as my provider too? Can I use it with other providers, or would that not work? Also, I saw options for 'Allowed' and 'Ignored' providers, and I'm unsure if I need to fill those out.

Essentially, what settings do I need to adjust to have the best experience using DeepSeek on OpenRouter? Any guidance would be super helpful! (I feel a bit out of my depth here.)

So, from what I've gathered, OpenRouter connects to DeepSeek through a third-party provider. This means that any settings you pick don’t have a huge effect on how DeepSeek works since it’s managed differently compared to direct API usage (like with Silly Tavern). You shouldn’t have to worry too much about choosing a specific provider on OpenRouter—it’s mostly handled for you, although sticking with the default is usually fine.

Also, watch out! Any adjustments you make in settings won't save permanently; you have to reset them each time. If you're doing coding or math queries, just remember to tweak the temperature and top P settings down. V3 can really be smart but a bit unpredictable sometimes!

Hey, should I just stick to the default provider on OpenRouter then? Or does it matter if I switch providers? I'm also a bit worried if Silly Tavern is a better option since I already bought credits on OpenRouter.
