Hey everyone! I'm a bit of a newbie here and could use some help. My organization is planning to start using Azure Virtual Desktop and we're also moving some data centers, application servers, and file shares to Azure. I'm curious about what happens in the event of a region outage. If a region goes down and affects all availability zones, are we just stuck waiting for Microsoft to fix it? Based on your experiences, how often do these complete region outages actually happen? I'm really excited about this transition, but I want to make sure I'm prepared for any potential issues since everything runs pretty smoothly on-site unless there's a huge problem like a power outage.

In my experience, I haven't encountered a whole region going down completely. But yes, it’s a risk to keep in mind. Depending on how your organization operates, some businesses feel comfortable just using the availability zones within a region, while others want the added security of a regional backup. There are definitely trade-offs, mainly around cost and the complexity of managing it all. When it comes to handling region outages, you should definitely consider using a service like Site Recovery. It helps to make sure you're prepared if something goes wrong. Check it out for more info!
There have been outages that affect entire regions; you can check the history here: [Azure Status History](https://azure.status.microsoft/status/history/?trackingId=1K80-N_8). It's something to definitely be aware of as you transition!
Oooooo thanks! This is all new to me and a bit overwhelming.
