I recently snagged a gaming PC for $2,000 from a close friend who barely used it. The build includes a 4080 super GPU, an i9-14700k CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and 2 TB of storage, and it's just over a year old. I've been using it mostly for playing Fortnite at high FPS (240) at 1440p and also for some schoolwork. Given these specs, how long should I realistically expect this setup to serve me well, especially for gaming at 1440p?

Honestly, it’ll last as long as you’re happy with how it performs. For me, a $1200 build has lasted about 6 to 7 years, and I hope my current one does the same or even longer. Just keep an eye on your needs as games evolve.
True! I’ve been running a lower spec PC since 2020 and only looking to upgrade now because the new games out are pushing my hardware. If you’re satisfied, then you’re good!
