I recently got a MSI RTX 3080 X TRIO, and while it's performing well, I've noticed that some software like GPU-Z and SignalRGB identifies it as an EVGA card. I'm aware that flashing the BIOS carries risks, so I'm hesitant to try that. I'm curious about how a flashed BIOS might impact my GPU or system. Also, can anyone give me an estimate on how long this card might last before it needs to be replaced?

In Device Manager, it just says RTX 3080 without any brand name.
The lifespan of your GPU heavily depends on the resolution you game at. I used to game at 2K with my 3080 and it held up great. If you game at 2K or lower, you should be set for several more years. Just keep an eye on the temperature and as long as it's within safe limits, you're good! People often flash different firmwares, but as long as it's the same model (like your 3080), it usually doesn't cause issues. Sometimes newer firmwares even unlock better features like power tuning options.
It sounds like you might have bought a used card, and the previous owner may have wanted to flash it to an EVGA firmware for some extra features. While flashing carries risks, if you follow instructions carefully, it’s generally safe. Having the EVGA firmware isn't an issue unless you push the card beyond its limits. If you're not overclocking or using any advanced features that the MSI firmware doesn't support, you should be fine.
I game at 1080p, and it still shows as an RTX 3080. Does that change anything?
Would overclocking with the Nvidia app affect the card negatively?
Does your card show up as an EVGA in Device Manager too?
