I'm facing a real nightmare scenario and I'm curious if anyone here has experience restoring a 365 tenant after a cyberattack. Assuming you have proper backups for Exchange, SharePoint, etc., how long does the restoration process actually take? I'm guessing the major bottleneck could be the upload speed to Microsoft or the download speed from your backup provider. For example, if you have around 150GB in Exchange and 1.3TB in SharePoint, what kind of timeframe are we looking at?

I'm actually really interested in this topic too. Has anyone gone through this restoration process? I'd love to hear how long it took!
This is why using M365 Backup is so important now. Definitely check out the admin portal for it and use it the next time a disaster strikes.
Make sure you have backups of all users, groups, permissions, and enterprise apps. Restoring data will take time, but it's manageable if you've got a clear strategy.
Restoring mailboxes can really be a pain. If you're using an external backup provider like Veeam, it could take quite a while. From my experience, it's not a quick process, and you really face some hiccups along the way.
Recovery time will really depend on a lot of factors: how much content you have, your disaster recovery plan, whether you’re restoring to the same tenant or a new one, and the amount of mailbox parallelization you can achieve. I remember having to do a full restore back in my Exchange MSP days, and it took us nearly the whole weekend!
