I have a setup with 5 hosts, each with 2 CPUs, and 8 cores per CPU. I'm trying to figure out how many VMware licenses I need for the Standard version. Can anyone help me out with the calculations?

You'll need to count the total cores for VMware licensing. Since each host has 2 CPUs with 8 cores each, that's 16 cores per host. With 5 hosts, you're looking at 80 cores in total. Keep in mind, the minimum for VMware vSphere Standard is 72 cores, so you’ll definitely meet that requirement.
But is there a minimum core count per CPU? I've heard some say it's 16 cores per CPU, which would affect licensing.
