Hey everyone! My friend is looking to upgrade his gaming rig and is currently running a Ryzen 7 3700X paired with an RTX 3070. He's considering just upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5700X and reallocating resources to a new RTX 5070 Ti. The 5700X is affordable, whereas the X3D chips are quite pricey here. He's planning to game at 1440p with the highest settings possible. Any advice on this upgrade path would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I've used a 5700X with a 9070 XT and played at 1440p 165Hz without issues. Expect some CPU bottlenecks in CPU-heavy titles, but you'll still manage over 130-170 FPS in most games. After switching to a 5800X3D, I noticed a solid improvement in the 1% lows, and I gained about 10-15% more average FPS. Just remember, NV cards generally have a bit more CPU overhead than AMD ones, but you should be fine with the RTX 5070 Ti since it's comparable to the 9070 XT.
Yeah, we're also looking at a Radeon card for that reason, but the 9070 XT is getting hard to find... 🙁
