Hey everyone! I'm really interested in diving into DevOps and I'm wondering about the best way to start. I'm a dedicated learner and have a strong passion for this field, but I've heard that DevOps roles aren't typically for beginners. To kick things off, I was thinking of focusing on System Administration first. Is it a good idea to concentrate on SysAdmin courses initially and then move on to DevOps concepts while practicing sysadmin tasks? Or can I jump straight into DevOps and still be in a good position for a junior SysAdmin role?

I’d recommend starting with the basics of system administration, but don’t wait too long to get your hands on DevOps tools. Experimenting on platforms like DigitalOcean is great—try using Terraform and Docker to build and break things. Check out resources like the DevOps roadmap sites to guide your learning. It’s all about practical experience!

Do you think having enough DevOps skills will actually help me land a junior sysadmin position?
