How Should I Start Learning Coding Before University?

Hey everyone, I hope I'm doing this right since it's my first time here! I'm 19 and I've been accepted into a software engineering program that starts in two weeks. I've spent the last 8 months working on AI-related projects after a friend introduced me to some AI IDEs. It's been fun, and I've learned a lot about planning and bringing ideas to life, but I don't really know coding well. I used to dabble with some HTML and PHP back in middle school but lost interest. I've realized that the way I'm currently using AI to create projects has its limits, especially since I can't manually code them. I want to learn programming properly now that I have a goal to go abroad and improve myself. So, I'm looking for your advice on how I can get started learning programming from scratch. Any recommended resources, channels, or personal tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

You might want to switch from Cursor to a different IDE that allows for more hands-on coding. This will help you continue working on your projects while you learn. It’s important to start manually integrating code instead of relying solely on AI tools. Trust me, it’ll make a big difference in your learning journey!

I'll think about it, thank you.

Check out some programming books designed for college students. They often have exercises that you can practice with to solidify your understanding. Hit your local library and find books for the programming languages that intrigue you. Try to tackle the exercises on your own, and only use AI when you're really stuck, asking it to point out errors instead of giving you the answers outright. That way, you’ll actually learn!

Thank you for your reply. The only problem is that Turkish universities are inadequate in this regard, so I am considering turning to foreign sources.
