How to Connect an External Hard Drive to My Router?

I'm using a NetComm NF20Mesh router and I want to connect an external hard drive to its USB port so that everyone on my network can access the files. However, I'm having trouble with the setup in the router's login interface. I've searched online but mostly I get told to just get a NAS, which I'm not looking for. If you can't provide helpful guidance, please skip responding.

Could you share what specific part of the setup you're stuck on? If you can provide screenshots of what you're seeing, that might help others assist you better!

I formatted the drive to NTFS, enabled DLNA, and set up a login account. But when I try to access it using \\192.168.20.1 in the Windows search bar, it doesn't find anything. The library path in the router settings shows /mnt/disk1_1, but I can't get to it.

Make sure your external hard drive is formatted to FAT32, NTFS, or ext2/ext3. You need to access the content sharing settings in your router and enable either DLNA or SMB for it to work. Check the user guide for your router for specific instructions.

Check out this video tutorial; it walks you through the setup process. However, keep in mind that it’s made for a D-Link router, so the interface might differ a bit for your NetComm.

Yeah, but the D-Link interface is a lot easier. NetComm doesn't even have a clear 'USB Sharing' option, so it can be pretty confusing.
