Hey everyone, I'm exploring options for managing our organization's passwords and considering using Bitwarden. Is it still the best practice to keep a password vault on-premise, or are most people leaning towards cloud solutions these days? Ideally, I'd like to implement a tiered access model where IT team members can request access to certain accounts. Has anyone set up something similar? What do you think offers the best security and availability? Thanks!

For enterprise use, I recommend the Secret Server. But for personal use, 1Password has been great for me. It really depends on what you need and how many features you're after.
I've been using Bitwarden's cloud-hosted version with SSO integration. Although my parent company is pushing me to switch from Bitwarden for critical service accounts and move those to CyberArk, my plan is to keep using Bitwarden for shared logins and secure notes like API keys.
I switched from Bitwarden to 1Password for my own use and honestly, I think it's way better for end users. The integrations for things like SSH and VS Code make life easier for developers too. I find it frustrating having to revert back to Bitwarden at work! Also, don't listen to the hype about Secret Server; it's just way too expensive for what you get.
I've been using KeePass. It isn’t the flashiest option, but it’s reliable and keeps everything local. It all comes down to your specific needs and how comfortable you are with different tools.
I stick with Bitwarden too. I'd prefer to host it on-prem, but as long as they're compliant with data protection in my region, I trust them for now. I've even got Vaultwarden on my radar for a future deployment. Just remember, no matter where you store it, you have to trust the service with your passwords. And with 2FA these days, the password alone isn't as damaging as it used to be, so I keep my 2FA tokens elsewhere.
