How to Fix a Computer That Won’t Boot Past the ‘Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device’ Screen?

When I start my computer, all I see is a black screen with the message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in Selected Boot device and press a key." Pressing a key just brings up the message again. Restarting doesn't help either. Is there a way to get my computer running normally again? By the way, it was previously booting into Windows without any issues.

The first thing you should do is check your BIOS settings to ensure the correct boot device is selected. Have you tried accessing BIOS before Windows starts? It was booting into Windows before, so this might fix it.

Since you can post here, why not look up how to access BIOS? There are some common ways to do it, and that might help you select the right boot device.

It's possible that the master boot record on your hard drive is corrupted. You might need to repair or restore it to get past that screen.

There's a chance your hard drive isn't being recognized or it may have failed. You might need to replace it if that's the case. Definitely check this out!
