I just tried to install Bazzite, but after rebooting, I ran into this frustrating "bad shim signature/load the kernel first" error. I read somewhere that I might need to turn off secure boot, but I couldn't find any clear instructions on how to do that. I've only just started using Linux, so I'm hoping to get some help on what I might have done wrong and how to resolve this issue.

To disable secure boot, you need to access the BIOS settings on your computer. Usually, you can do this by pressing a specific key during startup, often F2 or Del. It sounds like you might be hitting the GRUB menu instead. When you start your computer, try repeatedly pressing F2 or Del to see if you can get into the BIOS settings. Once you're there, navigate to the secure boot option and turn it off. You can re-enable it after your installation if needed!

It's indeed tricky! But just a heads-up, if you're having trouble getting to the BIOS, sometimes different manufacturers use different keys. For example, on some HP laptops, it's often Esc or F10. If pressing F2 isn’t working, try checking your computer's manual or do a quick Google search for your specific model to find out the right key to enter the BIOS.
