Hey everyone! I just got a new PC and I'm using a device that works a lot better with USB 2.0. Unfortunately, my PC has a bunch of USB 3.0 ports but only one USB 2.0 port that's giving me good performance with my device. Is there any way to make my USB 3.0 ports act like USB 2.0? Maybe some kind of converter or extension? I'd appreciate any tips!

USB 3.0 ports should be compatible with 2.0 devices and run at 2.0 speeds. If you’re noticing better performance from the actual 2.0 port, that could hint at some sort of issue with the 3.0 ports. One option is to use a USB extension cable that’s specifically 2.0-rated; it will only connect the necessary pins for 2.0, making it act like a standard 2.0 connection.
It’s strange that your device works better on a 2.0 port, but it seems that some USB 3.0 hubs can interfere with certain devices. If it's really giving you trouble, you're not alone; this has happened to others too. If possible, try using a different USB 3.0 port or get a dedicated expansion card for USB 2.0. It's another way to ensure your device runs smoother!
So, it’s a bit puzzling, but theoretically, USB 3.0 ports should work just fine with USB 2.0 devices. They’re supposed to be backwards compatible. If you’re experiencing issues, it could be due to the chipsets in those cheap USB 3.0 hubs. They sometimes cause interference with other devices. A good idea is to consider getting a PCIe USB 2.0 expansion card for better reliability. Also, maybe a USB extension cable could help, especially if it's rated only for 2.0 speeds!
