I'm trying to set up my new build with an old Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler, but I've run into a problem: it's too large and blocks my PCIe slot for the GPU. I didn't check the compatibility between the cooler and my motherboard before. Noctua mentions that the issue can be fixed by using the standard (non-offset) position. However, I've read that for AM5 CPUs like my AMD 9800X3D, an offset is necessary due to varying heating issues. I'm feeling a bit stuck here. Should I consider buying a different fan, like the NH-D15 G2, or is it worth trying out the non-offset position? Thanks for any advice!
EDIT: Just to clarify, my setup includes a Gigabyte B850 GAMING X WIFI6E motherboard and an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU.

I don't think you need to worry too much about the offset with the NH-D15. I was using a Dark Rock 4, which isn’t ‘ideal’ for AM5, but my temperatures are still way better than those using AIOs! I believe the mounting is key, and many might just not be doing it right.
That's good to know! So, do you think I would need to buy a different mounting kit for the non-offset setup, or can I just adjust the way I attach it?
